In Leviticus 8, Aaron and his sons are ordained exactly as the LORD commanded, set apart through washing, garments, anointing, and sacrifice. Leviticus 9 climaxes with God’s approval: Aaron offers the sacrifices, the LORD appears, and fire comes out from before the LORD to consume the offering—prompting the people to shout and fall on their faces. But Leviticus 10 shows the danger of treating God casually: Nadab and Abihu offer unauthorized fire before the LORD, and God’s judgment falls. The message is clear—God is holy, worship must be according to His word, and those who draw near must honor Him.
