Built a modular access-control prototype with two Arduino Nano 33 IoT boards. The device node integrates a PIR sensor for presence detection, an RC522 for card authentication against a local whitelist, an OLED for step-by-step prompts/status, and a servo for gate actuation with visual LED feedback. The gateway node subscribes to MQTT event topics and relays JSON to Telegraf for durable logging and analysis.
Designed a compact JSON schema (UID, event, ts_utc, uptime, status codes, optional signal/health fields) and a topic namespace to support multiple gates/users without collisions.
