Today we’re shooting with a fully mechanical classic: the Pentacon FM, paired with the legendary Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f/2.
Built in East Germany during the Cold War, this all-metal 35mm SLR works without batteries and forces you to slow down and shoot intentionally. No autofocus. No auto exposure. Just light, glass, and timing.
The Biotar is famous for its dreamy rendering and iconic swirly bokeh — the lens design that inspired the Helios 44. Combined with Fujifilm Reala 100, we’re aiming for natural colours, fine grain, and that timeless film look.
Let’s see what this vintage combo can still do today.
