Many GP practices now include a range of health professionals who can diagnose and treat health conditions. This ensures that you see the right person at the right time. This might include a prescribing pharmacist who has undertaken additional training to become an independent prescriber, which allows them to prescribe medicines for their patients.
A prescribing pharmacist uses their expertise in medicine to prescribe the right medicines to the patient, allowing the GPs to focus on the more complex patients. This way of working means we’re able to ensure patients see the most appropriate health professional.
