Описание: Hiking and exploring the abandoned Old Lincoln Highway from Donner Lake to Donner Summit/Pass near Lake Tahoe/Truckee California. We Explore the old abandoned road and discover it's sometimes easy and sometimes hidden, difficult to find, and overgrown. In the background is always the old historical arched Rainbow Bridge on Old US Highway 40. The first transcontinental railroad opened in 1868. The Lincoln Highway was opened in 1914. Old US 40 was opened in 1927 following the completion of the rainbow bridge in 1926. And the newer I-80 was opened in 1960 at the time of the Squaw Valley Olympics. We also mention the famous Tunnel 6 at Donner Summit and the hordes of hard working Chinese laborers who made the rail a possibility in those days. This is one of the most underrated historical landmarks in Calfornia. Norm Sayler, who founded Donner Ski Ranch and is a noted Donner Summit historian, refers to the Donner Summit area as the most important historical square mile in California! Join me as we have a fabulous, revealing exploration of the area.
