Digiscoping Adapter for Spotting Scope - 3-Axis Lightweight & Universal Phone Scope for Adjustable Eyepiece Relief | Smartphone Holder for Spotting Scopes Mono Binos | Fits Most Cell Phone Cameras
From the MOVE SHOOT MOVE Store
This is a 3 axis adapter that holds your cell phone camera up to the eyepiece of a telescope / spotting scope / binocular so that you can record videos or take photos through the optics. It holds cell phones between 2.4" and 3.8" wide, and fits eyepieces from 0.87" up to 2.36".
The 3-axis (x,y,z) adjustment knobs make it easy to get your phone camera lens directly over the eyepiece exit pupil and at the right distance. Using it is much easier than all of the 2-axis adapters I've tried in the past.
This adapter is lightweight (less than 5oz) and primarily made of plastic (with metal screws). The plastic parts are relatively rigid and hold my phone steady above the eyepiece. It also includes a Bluetooth remote shutter, so you can take photos without touching the phone and causing your telescope to vibrate.
The most comparable competing product I've reviewed is the SVBony SV214 Pro 3 axis adapter, which looks very similar but is made of aluminum (and weights twice as much). The SVBony adapter is $20 less expensive, and feels more sturdy, but it comes in two sizes, and you basically have to pick if you want to use it with 1.25" or 2" eyepieces and buy the appropriate size, while the MSM adapter can accommodate either size eyepiece. I don't believe that the extra weight and more rigid aluminum construction of the SVBony SV214 Pro adapter makes it work any better. Having less weight hanging off of your telescope eyepiece may be an advantage, and having the ability to adapt to more sized eyepieces is a definite advantage that may be worth the extra $20 in price. On the other hand, if you already have the SV214 Pro and it works with your eyepieces and telescopes, I don't see any compelling advantage of the MSM triadapter to need to upgrade.
