Methi Matar Malai : With a health twist
Today I am here to celebrate two of my favorite winter ingredients, Ranchi Green Peas and Fenugreek or Methi. And when paired together the sweetness of peas and the bitterness of methi make a match made in heaven. Although the dish is very common in most Indian restaurants, it's usually laden with oodles of cream and butter to make it delicious. We decided to preserve the nutrition of methi and peas and also keep the cholesterol in check with a healthy yet yummy version of this classic dish.
Methi has been known to be an elixir for diabetics and is also a known blood purifier. And green peas too are a great source of fiber and naturally sweet so keeps you satiated and has been known to reduce cholesterol . So we decided to remove the guilt and keep the joy intact.
The measurements for the recipe
Olive oil half tsp
Ghee half tsp
Cumin half tsp
Choppee ginger 1 tsp
Chopped garlic 1 tsp
Chopped onions 1 cup
Chopped tomato 1 cup
Salt to laate
Dhania powder 1 tbsp
Red chili powder 1 tsp
Pepper to taste
Water as needed
Boiled peas 1 cup
Methi 1 small bunch
Khoya 50g
For paste
Poppy seed 1 tbsp
Melon Seed 1 tbsp
Cashew 1 tbsp
You can also add some paneer / chicken to this to increase the protein intake
