This Overbearing Pink 1970 Fireplace Had to Go!

We recently had this fireplace cleaned by a chimney sweep and he also did a video inspection. We were given the news that the flue was not safe to use in it's current 1970 state. With the information we were given, we chose to remove the facebrick and hearth so we could install a wood stove. We started Christmas Eve and 3-1/2 days later we had the fireplace facade and hearth removed. We figure it was more than 3,000# of brick and mortar we removed. My cousin said "hard work to good for you". I agree, but it sure isn't fun when you're in the middle of it. Sean caught a bug from work and didn't want to infect family. In true Sean fashion, he "carried on"! and this is what we did over Christmas instead. The temperatures were mid 40's fahrenheit and rose to 61F at the end of the project. Then plummeted to 12F with sustained winds at 35mph with gusts up to 55mph. We definitely wanted to get this project done before the nasty winter weather dug its heals in.
