On the occasion of Victory Day, in his address Vladimir Putin, President of Russia has said that the Russian soldiers are 'defending motherland' in Ukraine. He added that Moscow was facing an unacceptable threat in Kyiv. This statement means that the war will not cease anytime soon in Ukraine. Russian forces invaded the Ukrainian borders on February 24 this year. Since then the country has seen violence all around with more than a fourth of its population displaced. This has also created geopolitical tensions between countries like the USA and India and worsened US-Russia relations. Talks have been ongoing for a cease-fire but to no avail.
