This is a blind reaction to two Verlisify videos discussing WolfeyVGC’s alleged cheating and the state of the Pokémon community. Being a blind reaction means that I may say something early in the video that I later change my mind on—that’s just how this type of content works. I also tried my best to look at this from Verlisify’s perspective, as well as that of The Pokémon Company and the broader community. I feel as though my niche in the community is that I won’t just sit here and call Verlisify names for 2+ hours. Instead, I’ll actually listen, think about his points, and rebut accordingly, just like I did in my original video on Verlisify's review of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
The WolfeyVGC vs. Verlisify drama is layered and honestly fascinating:
1️⃣ Did WolfeyVGC Cheat?
WolfeyVGC used genned Pokémon or their offspring, which technically breaks Pokémon's official rules stating Pokémon must be obtained through normal gameplay (not hacked, modified, or cloned).
The typical counterarguments from Wolfey’s fans:
"It’s not real cheating."
"I don’t consider that cheating."
"Even if it is, no one cares!"
My stance? WolfeyVGC broke the rules, but Pokémon, the community, and the competitive scene don’t care—except for Verlisify and his audience.
2️⃣ The Gray Area of Cheating in Pokémon
Many assume "cheating" means impossible stats (e.g., a Shadow Rider Calyrex with 223 Speed instead of 222, allowing it to outspeed all legitimate ones). That’s not what this is.
The issue is that Wolfey’s Pokémon were obtainable but acquired in an illegitimate way—which technically violates the rules, even if their in-game performance is unaffected.
Sports Analogy: Imagine an American football game where a rule states all players must arrive by public transportation. Team Blue follows the rule, but two players on Team Red drive personal cars. The league allows them to play anyway. They did break the rule, but it didn’t impact the game itself.
"Rules are rules" people would disqualify Team Red.
"Who really cares?" people argue the rule is pointless if it doesn’t affect gameplay.
3️⃣ Verlisify’s Obsession with WolfeyVGC
Verlisify is hyper-focused on this topic and on WolfeyVGC as a creator.
He posted 3+ videos on Wolfey in the last 7 days and has at least 25 callout videos on him. This doesn't include him calling out other's for cheating or him criticizing other creators for defending WolfeyVGC.
Years ago, Verlisify was a major figure in the Pokémon community, while Wolfey was a small creator. After calling Wolfey out for cheating, Verlisify fell off while Wolfey became one of the biggest Pokémon creators—and Verlisify has never gotten over it.

Citations & My Summarized Take
I don’t personally care that WolfeyVGC broke the rules, and Verlisify has every right to keep making these videos—but at this point, it’s a obsession.
