The history of Capileira in Las Alpujarras

Описание: Las Alpujarras is my favorite region of Andalusia, Spain. It's located on the southern slopes of Sierra Nevada. I lived in #Capileira in the Poqueira valley all of September, 2018. I hiked every day and was enthralled by the area.

I try to stay creative and decided on a whim to make a video about Capileira and Las Alpujarras, using my old footage. I realize few might share my fascination with medieval irrigation systems, stone walls, cultivation terraces, and ruins of farms. The video is slow and probably quite boring, but hey.

All the clips are from September, 2018. I had to use royalty-free music. It's not what I would've picked if I had been able to choose freely.

The cultivation terraces and cortijos captured my imagination in particular. There are terraces everywhere, even high up in the mountains. It must have looked amazing when all the slopes were green and full of crops.

I have much more footage of cortijos, located at a higher altitude where the landscape is more barren. Unfortunately, the video quality was much too poor. I had filled up my phone so I eventually had to use an inferior backup camera. The house I stayed in had no internet.

I hope to return in the future and explore those farms again, because their remoteness intrigued me so much.
