Legend says the Tower and the Kingdom will fall if the ravens ever leave. So their residence is considered critically important.
King Charles II first decreed that ravens must be protected at the Tower in the 17th century. Though likely more myth than prophecy, the ravens remain cherished residents today.
Spotting one of the legendary ravens perched on a Tower parapet is considered good luck. So be sure to look up and give a wave if you catch sight of one of the Tower's infamous feathered guardians!
