STORYLINE:

A small but vocal demonstration lead by union members and students marched through Mexico City on Friday to protest outside the embassies of the United States and Great Britain.

The 300 demonstrators chanted anti-western slogans and burned an American flag as well as a replica of Uncle Sam.

Nearly 500 police officers were called in to line the streets and contain the demonstration.

After a short rally in front of the U-S embassy, the marchers moved down the street to the British embassy.

While staff members from the embassy looked on, demonstrators accused the United States and Great Britain of perpetuating global hunger and economic depression in the world.
