I'm sure you didn't expect this as most of you know that portugal is part of Europe, but the islands in the atlantic ocean, madeira and azores islands hide a secret. YOu see, the western most islands in the azores archipelago are actually located on the north american tectonic plate which makes them, geological, part of North America and implicitly makes Portugal part of North America.
The Madeira islands are located on the African plate and if we keep the same reasoning, Madeira Islands are locate in Africa, so it is Portugal.

Did you know that Portugal is considered by some to be part of Europe, North America, and Africa simultaneously? From a geological perspective, the mainland and the central and eastern groups of the Azorean archipelago are part of the Eurasian tectonic plate. The westernmost islands of the Azores, Flores, and Corvo, are part of the North American tectonic plate, which also includes Greenland and part of Iceland. Therefore, thanks to these islands, Portugal is also considered part of North America.
