The Curtiss P-40, a prominent World War II fighter, was officially named the Warhawk by the U.S. Army Air Corps. It is also famously known as the Tomahawk (early models P-40B/C) and Kittyhawk (later models P-40D/N) in British Commonwealth and Soviet service.
The "Flying Tigers" nickname specifically refers to the American Volunteer Group using shark-mouthed P-40s in China.
