As August slips into September, the crew at The Big Honker Lodge kicks off Year 32 of guiding hunts — and like always, it’s a mad dash to the starting line.
Tony and his helper are full steam ahead, fixing leaks, patching holes, and making sure everything runs like a well-oiled machine… meanwhile, Jeff is deep in a very different kind of battle — deciding whether his prized specklebelly mount looks better above or besides the sign. While the rest of the team sweats it out, Jeff’s got decorating fever, and no one is safe from his interior design vision.
We welcome the Mallard Bay and Boss Shot Shells family, along with fishing pro Matt Robertson, for a classic Texas Friday Night Lights experience, complete with high school football, laughs, and good company.
The lodge is packed for another opening weekend of dove hunting, and like any good opener, it comes with the usual chaos, hiccups, and a whole lot of laughs.
