Catfish are a diverse group of ray-finned fish. Named for their prominent barbels, which resemble a cat's whiskers.
Ada Magur is my family favorite. I cook it whenever we pick fresh Magur machh from the market specially during rainy season. This particular fish is considered to be good for growing kids. In my childhood days, we used to have a runny curry (called patla jhol) of this fish when we used to have fever or diarrhoea. Later from my mother in law I learnt the recipe of adding Ginger (ada) or black pepper (morich) with magur machh.
