Hello and welcome to Caravannery. If, like us, you're planning your firstdriving holiday to France this summer then you might be doing the same research that we've been doing about the
bits and pieces that you need to take with you. And whether you've done your research, or not, we're here to give you a quick overview of everything you need and to share with you a tip that I'm leaning on - which is this box of stuff from Aldi. Let's take a look! The box is open and the first thing I'm really pleased to see is that it all comes in a case, which is really useful if like us you always misplace things. It's also got two velcro strips on the back. We don't have one of these, but I think you can get boot liners and things that you could attach that to, which I think would be quite handy as well. Let's take a look inside. Okay so first thing's first; something most people are probably aware of before the research starts is the need for a GB sticker. Okay this is a little bit crumpled but it should stick on fine and when you think it comes as part of a pack; probably cheaper than paying postage and packaging or going and looking for one, so that's great. Next is the high-vis jacket. Worth noting that this pack only contains one, and you are legally required to carry one for each passenger. Now, we do carry one as it is, so that's fine, but just something to bear in mind depending on how many of you are traveling. Next up, the headlamp
converters. Driving in the UK, your headlamps are positioned for driving on the left, so obviously when you're in France you're going to be dazzling drivers when you're on the other side of the road, so these are a legal requirement. There are two in the pack; they come with a fitting guide and they look great. Next up the NF certified breathalysers. Now, these aren't a legal requirement
anymore - but really useful to carry, and everything we've read suggests that you should take those with you anyway and there are two in this kit. Next on the list is the warning triangle - so that comes in a nifty little pack to keep it all together, and that is another of your legal requirements should you break down. Next up are the bonus items. The first one is a first-aid kit, and we'll have a closer look at that later, but that's going to be useful whether you're traveling in the UK or abroad. There's also an emergency foil blanket - another useful item worth keeping in the car and not something that we have currently. There's also a universal bulb kit, which is again another really useful item which we would probably find useful at some point in the future, if not while we're in France. Last item is an LED windup
torch. Now, most of us carry mobile phones with a flash, but this is really useful if your battery's a bit low or if you're stuck for a long time; and again something that I think we could make use of at any point in the future. This is something we've seen recommended on Twitter for £18.99 and when we popped into Aldi to buy it it was reduced to £14.99, so an absolute bargain. And on the back it does have a checklist of the different countries and items that you need, so it might be useful for other trips that you're planning as well. You'll be pleased to know that the other things you need to take with you when driving in France are things you'll already own. So that's your
V5 document, your MOT certificate, your car insurance certificate and your passport.
