Hochul to deliver State of the State address focused on fighting crime and rising costs

Gov. Kathy Hochul will deliver her State of the State address from Albany on Tuesday, updating New Yorkers on her plans to fight crime while doubling down on affordability.
The 1 p.m. speech is expected to reference announcements the Democrat has already made—like subsidized child care for 2 year olds and increased funding for the state heating assistance program—while adding to the roadmap of what she wishes to accomplish in office through 2026.
Some of these plans include cracking down on the proliferation of ghost guns, expanding nuclear energy programs to tamp down energy costs, calling for safety zones around houses of worship and pushing back on aggressive ICE tactics.
This will be the governor's fifth state of the state address, which she will deliver ahead of her reeelection campaign this year.
