I read this article before knowing I would make a stop in Morioka this year so it's fun to see just how the real thing compares; and I have to say, I really enjoyed Morioka! It's such a quaint city; even though the subway network isn't as extensive as other cities in Japan, I still felt that the city was very pedestrian and bicycle friendly. The wide landscapes carved by its rivers made it a very scenic place. You don't feel the congestion that you get from other denser cities. It feels like it would make a very nice place to live!
