Professor Dr. M A Muhit Guest Speaker, Channel 24 on The International Day of Disabled Persons 2019

Описание: Our Honourable Board of Trustees Chairman, Professor Dr. MA Muhit has dedicated a large portion of his life to help the differently abled through various initiatives. Invited as a Guest Speaker at Channel 24 on The International Day of Disabled Persons 2019, he elaborates on this year’s theme ‘ Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda’.

During his interview, he provided a vivid description of the situation of disabled individuals in Bangladesh and abroad, the need for better characterization of both mental and physical disabilities as well as how they can be better integrated into society through their training and education.

While conducting a nationwide research on visual impairment among the children in rural Bangladesh back in 2000, Dr. Muhit travelled all 64 districts if the country and realized that major policy intervention is needed to establish the rights of people with disabilities in the country. To address their needs, he established CSF Global and since then, Dr. M. A. Muhit through CSF Global has conducted cataract operations free of cost for more than 12,000 people throughout the country. Dr. Muhit has also distributed hundreds of wheelchairs among the children with disabilities in Shahjadpur, Shirajganj area in the last six years. Apart from Bangladesh, CSF Global also has operations in Australia, Indonesia and Nepal.
