In fact, on the same day the BJP lost Bihar, the newly minted BJP-Sena government in Maharashtra took shape. But the BJP's aggressive, ambitious rise has come at the cost of its allies. The original NDA, created under late Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1998, was a coalition of over 30 parties. But, since then the BJP has lost more allies than it has gained.
