On October 20, 2025, senior officials from Afghanistan and Turkmenistan visited the TAPI (Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India) gas pipeline project inside Afghan territory.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of Afghanistan, and Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow led a high-level delegation to the project site in Torghundi, Herat Province.
During the visit, both sides reiterated their strong commitment to completing the multi-billion-dollar energy corridor, which aims to supply natural gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India.
According to the Afghan Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, 14 kilometers of the TAPI pipeline have already been laid, while another 100 kilometers of the route have been prepared for construction. Turkmenistan has also provided new machinery and equipment to accelerate progress.
