This video captures the demolition of Westgate School in Omaha—a place that once meant everything to me, even when all I wanted was to leave it behind.

Like many people, I spent years dreaming of the day I’d walk out those doors for the last time. Back then, the building felt heavy, restrictive, and permanent. Yet standing above it now, watching it come down piece by piece, I was surprised by the weight of emotion that followed. What once felt like something I needed to escape has become a quiet part of who I am.

There’s something bittersweet about seeing a place from your past erased from the skyline. Schools aren’t just brick and concrete—they’re moments, friendships, struggles, and memories that shape us long after we move on. Even when the memories are complicated, their absence can still leave a hollow space.

This footage was filmed using my DJI Mavic 3, allowing a final aerial perspective of a building that played a role in my story and the stories of so many others. This isn’t just a demolition—it’s a farewell.
