Whilst it isn't essential to paint rapidly all the time, regular sessions of working a little more rapidly than you normally work will help to reveal your own style.
When we paint quickly we seem to manage the problems that occur in a less fussy manner with the result being a fresher, looser looking painting. You will need to manage your expectations for a while as this way of learning will surely test your patience and there will be some rather ugly paintings to follow. Stay in there! results will come!
