A new facility in Las Vegas is about to start producing foldable, stackable housing modules that can be shipped without requiring a broad load.

Boxabl, the business behind this project, is entering a crowded market of technology-driven firms attempting to lower construction costs. Despite the fact that other firms in this space have concentrated on 3D printing and other automated construction technologies, Boxabl's main difficulty was figuring out how to distribute its dwellings as quickly as possible. One of the main reasons for its unusual foldable form is because of this.

Paolo Tiramani, Galiano Tiramani, and Kyle Denman founded boxabl in 2017. The Boxabl Casita was unveiled in early 2020, after several years of development and testing materials, with hopes to sell by the end of the year. Since then, the company claims to have seen a significant increase in interest. According to Boxabl, it now receives hundreds of emails per day, with 8,000 requests to purchase the Casita. So far, 1,300 people have put down deposits for the $50,000 house on the waitlist.

"The unit's real setup is extremely quick. We've done it in under an hour [at our facility] "Galiano Tiramani, co-founder of Boxabl, informed me.
The 20-by-20-foot Casita, which starts at $49,500, is the company's first offering. Eventually, the company hopes to offer a wide range of sizes and forms that can be stacked and mixed in a variety of ways, just like Lego bricks.

The federal government was the first buyer for these stackable dwellings, and Boxabl has been maintaining a waiting list since then.

However, there is speculation that Boxabl may have a high-profile early client in the form of Elon Musk. Tesla CEO Elon Musk and space entrepreneur Elon Musk recently tweeted about renting a cheaper home through his SpaceX company.

"My primary residence is a $50k house I rent from SpaceX in Boca Chica / Starbase," Musk said. Boxabl's YouTube videos have hinted at a secret client also in Boca Chica, lending validity to this theory.

The question of whether Musk lives in one of these homes remains unanswered, but in the video attached in this piece, we speak with Boxabl about its dwellings in greater detail.

The company is aiming for rapid expansion. Though the company is still modest, the idea is to develop a huge manufacturing facility similar to an auto plant, where standardised elements may be assembled to create bespoke structures. According to a representative for Boxabl, the company is trying to raise $10 million from investors.
