Today: Few leads in search for Nancy Guthrie, and more Minnesota prosecutors resign

Days after the mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie was reported missing, investigators say there are still no suspects in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said authorities are continuing to investigate the case under the assumption that Nancy Guthrie is still alive.

"We believe Nancy is still out there," he said.

Nanos said DNA testing confirmed that blood found on Nancy Guthrie’s front porch belonged to the 84-year-old. Other DNA evidence collected at the scene, however, did not produce significant investigative leads, he said.

The fallout continues in Minnesota weeks after the deadly shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by federal immigration officers, as at least eight additional federal prosecutors are resigning. The departures come on top of six others who have stepped down in recent weeks amid frustration with the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

Some of the attorneys have said they are being stretched thin due to heavy caseloads. The U.S. attorney for the District of Minnesota said in a court filing last week that in January alone there were about 400 new cases involving people challenging their detention by federal immigration officials. The surge follows an increase in immigration enforcement in Minnesota, which has sparked widespread protests and calls for federal officials to leave the state.

And Thursday marks the end of more than half a century of nuclear restraint.

The New START Treaty, which was signed by Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev in 2010, is expiring. Under its terms, both the U.S. and Russia were limited to 1,550 deployed warheads and 800 delivery systems.

Now, for the first time since 1972, there are no limits on the two countries that possess nearly 90% of the world's nuclear weapons.
