Home Exercise: Oral Motor Activities to Do at Home

Описание: CRIT's therapists are glad to share with you some basic exercises and interventions so that you may continue to provide your child with rehabilitation from the comfort of your home!

Exercise Objective: To increase oral motor awareness, strength, coordination, and range of motion.
Exercise Requirements: Child must be cleared by a physician or a speech language pathologist to drink fluids by mouth for activities involving drinking from the straw.
Precautions: Be cautious if your child has muscle over-exertion precautions in place, or diet restrictions. Child must be supervised by a parent or caregiver at all times.
Contraindications: Children who are NPO should not perform straw-drinking activity.

Español: Los terapeutas del CRIT compartirán contigo ejercicios básicos para continuar con la rehabilitación de tu hijo o hija desde la comodidad de tu hogar.

Objetivo del ejercicio: Incrementar la conciencia oral-motora, así como la fuerza y la coordinación, y el rango de movilidad oral.
Requisitos del ejercicio: El niño debe tener el permiso de su especialista de beber líquidos con la boca, en todas las actividades que involucren beber con un popote (pajilla).
Precauciones: Sé cuidadoso, evita que el niño realice un sobre esfuerzo, y considera las restricciones alimenticias. Durante el ejercicio, el niño debe ser supervisado por un adulto.
Contraindicaciones: Niños con la instrucción NPO no deben realizar actividades con popotes (pajillas).
