Only Virginia saw an increase in unemployment, experts cite federal job cuts could be to blame

Описание: Virginia was the only state to see a month-to-month increase in unemployment in June, according to a recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The report shows that unemployment rates were stable in 47 states and lower in two.

Unemployment experts tell 7News that Virginia may be starting to see the impact of federal job cuts.

"We've typically seen some turnover among a variety of industries, particularly those who are government contractors," said David Hunn with Virginia Career Works Northern Region.

"We have seen some spillover as companies have had to try to react as federal contracting dollars have gotten smaller, and there have been some layoffs, according to that."
