Holosun HS510c Review : The Next Best Red Dot

Today we bring you the Holosun HS510c reflex sight review with the 2 moa red dot and the 65 moa ring open reflex circle. I have the Holosun 507c on my pistol so I'm already familiar and excited to try this out!

We start out by unboxing the Holosun 510c and see what all comes in the box. I was initially surprised that the optic turned on but I hadn't yet put the battery in the optic. The solar array on the 510c was actually able to power the optic with just interior lights. I was really surprised by this.

The controls are familiar as they are the same as the pistol optic I use, the Holosun 507c. I really like the familiarity of the optic from the pistol to the rifle or PCC. It offers me a seamless transition that just makes my brain happy.

Next, we took a look the QD on the Holosun HS 510c. The QD uses a locking lever to set itself in place so it doesn't just come loose if it gets snagged. You have to push the button to release the latch and then you can move it forward to release it.

We then move on and take a look at all of the optic features and how to work them all. We go over the basics of how to swap between the automatic and manual brightness along with how to change the different reticle modes. It can swap from a circle and a dot in the center to just a dot and then finally, just the circle. I really like all the optics and if you're familiar with the Holosun 507c pistol sight, you'll love seeing the same controls and operation.

Shooting this red dot was an absolute dream in close range. I would go so far as to say that this is one of the best CBQ red dot sights as it definitely hangs with the top-tier reticles such as the EOtech and Vortex UH-1.

When I took it out for training, I was able to move from target to target to target extremely quickly. I had no problems seeing the large circle dot reticle and I could definitely tell that it made me faster. I think it was because my brain was already trained into the Holosun 507c x2 on my pistol so I didn't have to learn anything different.

One item of note with all of the reticles in this tier though is that they lack any sort of sub tensions. So when we threw on the Holosun HM3x magnifier the image was clean and crisp but the reticle didn't have any markers to stretch out much further.

You should also be aware that the optic sits quite low. It would be the same as a low mount which causes a few issues on a rifle, particularly when used with NVGs.

Overall, I highly recommend this optic on a PCC or a shorter rifle that is designed for those close quarter engagements. If you're looking to reach out further and engage multiple targets at distance, take a look at the Holosun 503g (ACSS reticle) or the upcoming Primary Arms MD-25 ACSS .
