Donald Trump has said that Vladimir Putin agreed to not fire on Kyiv for a week due to the cold weather. After a series of Russian attacks on the energy system, hundreds of thousands of Kyiv residents were left without electricity and heating.
“It’s impossible,” says German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, dashing Ukraine’s hopes of joining the EU early 2027. The announcement comes as Kyiv and Moscow prepare for another round of peace negotiations, with the Donbas remaining as the deal’s last unresolved issue.
