Before boarding the flight to Japan, I took a walk to see if there was any ground crew activity attending to a departing airplane. LAX is pretty busy 24/7 so it didn’t take long to spot a Singapore Airlines A350 that was in the final stages of buttoning up before pushback. The gate had already closed.
LAX Terminal B, Gate 155. Singapore Airlines, flight SQ 37, A350-900 departing for Singapore. The jetway to the right is pulling away from the aircraft and the front cargo door is in the process of closing. The wheel chocks are removed and the aircraft is slowly pushed back from the gate by the aircraft tug or pushback tractor.
It takes an experienced ground crew, on which the flight crew and airline depend, to keep up with a demanding schedule. Airlines only make money when their planes are flying.
