1987 Maxon Eagles: Recycling & Trash

The closest to a trip down memory lane that San Diego has to offer. There's this one-way street in Encinitas, Calif. that has houses on both sides. The automated trucks are not equipped to collect waste from the left and right sides, so this street has its recycling, trash, and yard waste collected by hand. Trash is handled by M341, Maxon "Eagle" square body side loader. An Edge front loader usually does the greens and then the recycling, but once upon a time that FL broke down. So on that day, a second Maxon side loader, M340, covered the recycling route! And I'm not sure what did the yard waste.
So the above is a "best-of" compilation from multiple filming days on that street, including the day when two Maxon Eagles covered this route's waste and recycling. And while the rest of SoCal undergoes its equipment upgrades in the interests of air quality, one last route right on the coast has these classics (and their CAT 3208s), which I've brought to you on this Friday afternoon.
