These two great hornpipes are common in Scotland, Ireland and North America.
The first tune, The Golden Eagle, may have been written, if not collected by Scottish born composer James Hill (1811-1853). James ran a pub in Newcastle and is well known for his fiddle playing, compositions, and fondness for hornpipes. His popular repertoire includes tunes such as The Scholar, The High Level Bridge, The Beeswing, The Hawk, and The Omnibus.
The Poppy Leaf is a traditional tune, and I am not aware of the composer. The tune is said to have first appeared in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883), and later in Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940), leading to the tune being picked up by both Irish(-American) and Canadian fiddlers.
There's a 2015 reprint 'facsimile' of the 1883 Ryan's Mammoth Collection book on Amazon
