I take the The AirForce Texan .357 out to hunt Rio Grande Turkey, after my deer hunt.
California, Virginia, and Maryland (fall only) have allowed airguns for a few years. This year is the first time you can legally hunt Rio Grande turkey in Texas with an airgun. When I couldn't find the deer I wanted to shoot, my focus shifted to bagging a Rio Grande turkey. The deer and turkey seasons overlap, and I've read that probably more turkey are shot here with a deer rifle than a shotgun, and understand why. The rifle I'd intended to use for a whitetail was my AirForce Texan in .357.... more than enough gun for my new quarry!
I pulled my shot on the bird as it was getting ready to take off, and hit a little further back than planned. The jake shot up in the air and dropped on the other side of the road. I'll be going back soon to score on my deer.
Texas changed their laws to allow all game with an airgun, and my goal is to get a deer, javalina, and turkey in this first airgun season!
