About - Singer/songwriter/guitarist/bassist Lou Kaplan has been traveling from town to town, playing original music for all who would listen for 45 years. His songs have always been gritty and uncompromisingly honest, with an emphasis on authenticity rather than commerciality. Lou began his career by co-founding the Southern rock band Mad Jack. Along the way Lou joined the legendary British blues band Savoy Brown. Since then, Lou has performed and recorded original albums with the acoustic blues band Kaplan-Shaw, roots rockers Last Train Out, country outlaws Lonesome Crow and the critically acclaimed Americana duo Ghost Town Ramblers. The latter three bands all garnered SAMMY nominations for Best Album in their respective genres.

A new original solo album titled Ride or Die was released in February of 2022. According to Lou, it features "12 songs about life, death, love, loss, winning, losing, sin and redemption... conceived, written, played and sung with every damn thing I've got!" His new music could best be described as Americana with echoes of outlaw country and California folk-rock.
