Ode to Write Club by Mark Grist

Описание: During the many lockdowns, we did all miss our favourite real life venues but humans used what digital things they could and Write Club was born out of this ingenuity. Mark Grist and fellow Peterborough poets knew at the start of the pandemic that there was a huge need for poets and writers to connect with others and to keep being creative. I mean what does a poetry performer do when there are no open mic or poetry nights, what happens when the commissions and deadlines are not there anymore. To fill this gap, Write Club was created.

The first meeting was a bit tense, would anyone turn on their screens and get involved, but from the first Monday morning there was over 20 creatives, coming together from across the UK. With a Monday meeting for writing exercises, catch ups & goal setting and Friday meet up to share poems or tales from the week, Write Club ran all the way through Lockdown and is still going! With writers from across the UK and its birthed its own lovely community.

Mark wanted to say thanks to Write Club for being there for him at difficult times and for showing that there is such a lot of creative kindness out there in the digital!
