Six inmates escaped from Pollsmoor Prison late last night.
The inmates broke free by prying open prison burglar bars before scaling the perimeter fences.
Correctional Services regional commissioner Dalekile Klaas spoke to EWN on the matter.
By late afternoon, on the Monday three of the men were captured. Three are still at large.
