Very rare official video shown as part of a promotional appearance on the BBC's Saturday Superstore, 22 November 1986.
Along with Nick Berry's No.1 hit, "Every Loser Wins", the song was written for an EastEnders plot in which the younger residents of Albert Square entered a competition for young musicians. It reached No.12 in the UK charts on 8 November 1986, but by the time of their Saturday Superstore appearance it was already dropping back down the charts.
The fictional group were called "The Banned"' and consisted of: Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) on vocals; Kelvin Carpenter (Paul J. Medford) on backing vocals; Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) on drums; Eddie Hunter (Simon Henderson) on guitar; Simon Wicks (Nick Berry) on keyboards. Simon's song, "Every Loser Wins", was preferred by the band, but as manager Harry Reynolds (Gareth Potter) owned all the instruments and equipment, they were forced to pick his song, "Something Outa Nothing", for the contest instead, prompting Wicksy to leave the group and enter "Every Loser Wins" alone
In real life, only two members of the cast — Dean and Medford — actually performed on the song, hence the single being credited in their names only.
