Transforming Assam: Rail, IT & Semiconductor Advancements | Advantage Assam Summit 2025

Описание: Assam is rapidly transforming into a major IT and semiconductor hub. With a record allocation of ₹10,000 crore for railway infrastructure development, the state is witnessing unprecedented expansion. Over the past decade, 1,824 km of new railway lines have been added in Northeast India, and the railway network is set to achieve 100% electrification by March 2026.

The state will soon receive two Amrit Bharat trains, a railway manufacturing unit, two intercity trains, and six new Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals, while 60 railway stations undergo redevelopment. Additionally, a world-class IT hub will be developed at Guwahati Railway Station.

Assam is emerging as a key player in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, attracting interest from Japan and Taiwan. A new semiconductor plant and an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Bongora, Kamrup, will soon be established. Furthermore, a NIELIT University will be set up in Assam to boost IT education. With several transformative initiatives in railway and IT infrastructure underway, the Northeast is poised to become the new growth engine of Bharat.
