Here is Maiastra by Sinziana Mircea — a Romanian love story weaving together the magic songs of Maria Tănase and the mystic birds of Constantin Brâncuși, both echoing the soul of Romania.🇷🇴

Part of the Imagine Belle Époque International Tour 2025, this solo piano performance marks the Romanian presentation of Maiastra – The Mystic Bird, a composition first premiered in Rome earlier that year. Rooted in Romanian myth and sculptural symbolism, the piece unfolds as a series of variations on Ciuleandra — an ancient folkloric melody famously interpreted by Maria Tănase.

Through shimmering textures and rhythmic metamorphosis, Maiastra reimagines Ciuleandra as a sonic flight: hypnotic, ritualistic, and transcendent. The music pays homage to two towering figures of Romanian culture — Maria Tănase, whose voice gave eternal life to the soul of the land, and Constantin Brâncuși, whose sculpture Maiastra captured the essence of motion and mysticism.
