Designed with the tie-down roper in mind, this mouthpiece pushes the horse’s mouth into the roper’s hands to maximize the jerk line’s function. It offers more control on a horse that drops in the front and helps keep the horse’s weight shifted to the hind end. This mouthpiece is forgiving for the sensitive horse, and therefore is a good choice for a youth or novice roper. This design helps make up ground in horsemanship so the roper can focus on the calf. “This is my go-to on almost any calf horse,” Beaver shares. “It keeps the horse’s head up where he can see where he’s going coming out of the box, instead of tucked too much or cocking off to the side. The port is high, but the slide action offers forgiveness. It’s an all-time favorite of mine and has been to the NFR quite a few times.”
