Israeli journalist Emily Schrader has clashed with Palestinian commentator Omar Baddar and says Israel “did not start” the war on Gaza because Hamas invaded Israel and “murdered children in their homes”.
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected Hamas’ proposed ceasefire terms as ‘total victory’ in Gaza is possible within months.
According to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health, the death toll since Israel began its war on Hamas after the October 7 attacks in Israel has reached 27,585.
“You continue using all these buzzwords – apartheid, genocide – and those aren’t what those words actually mean,” Ms Schrader told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“There is a massive difference between a defensive war targeting terrorist targets that are using civilian sites, including UN schools, including hospitals, endangering their own people in the Gaza Strip, something that they themselves have admitted, and the invading of the sovereign borders of a foreign country and murdering children in their home.
“It is absolutely a defensive war – Israel did not start this war.”
