Mawlana Abd al-Salam (peace be upon him) succeeded to the Imamat in 1480. His given name was Mahmud, but he was known by the title Abd al-Salam, meaning “the Servant of Peace”. He was the second Imam of the Anjudan period, which saw a significant flourishing of religious writing and the composition of devotional poetry in Persia. He died in 1493 after an Imamat of 13 years, although his burial place has not been found.
“If you desire that I open for you the door of mysteries, then enroll in the school of submission and attend to my teachings with all your heart.” - Mawlana Abd al-Salam
