Based in Seattle, Gustaf Isaacson produces sophisticated lofi hip hop instrumentals under the alias Guustavv. Since as long as he can remember, Gustaf has made music as a way to release energy and transform it into something meaningful, with the power to affect others. He loves to experiment with different forms of production and uses his old field recorder to record many of his own sounds. His organic compositions have a mellow, almost nostalgic vibe to them, and he effortlessly mixes jazz piano with contemporary percussion and dreamy synth lines. His song titles—like “Saltwater Taffy,” “Lampshades,” “Cherry Tomatoes,” and “Angry Leaves”—reflect his surroundings. Each Guustavv album reads like a scrapbook of everyday observations that unfurls as its own unique tapestry.
