This is an excerpt from an interview with Michael Kelly, in which we explore key elements connected with men's work.
Michael Kelly has worked with marginalized young people and their communities for over 30 years. He holds qualifications in Youth & Community Work, Counselling Skills, Child Protection, Mountain Leadership and Applied Spirituality. Working in the wilderness has been a major feature of his work.
His experience of working with men in Ireland, USA and UK, from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, led to recent studies and a thesis entitled "Rites-of-Passage for young Irish men - an exploration of how Irish indigenous wisdom could be incorporated into Richard Rohr’s Male Rites-of-Passage Programme”. Michael is involved with Men As Learners and Elders (MALES), completing his own Rites-of-Passage in Scotland in 2018.
He lives in Ireland and is currently developing programmes & processes that enable older men to guide and mentor young men, into a responsible and authentic manhood. He can be contacted via email - [email protected].
