Do guys really care about acne? acne depression, acne anxiety… Today, I share 8 lessons that my severe acne taught me in my 20s and that I wish someone had told me then.

My skin as a teenager was pretty “good” with only one hormonal pimple every other month. Nothing that worried me or made me feel uncomfortable. When I turned 20, I started getting really bad adult severe acne. My severe acne appeared quickly and randomly and took over my face. I actually have very little little footage from that time because I hated my skin and I didn’t like taking photos or videos.

When I realised how “bad” my skin was, I started wondering “why do I still have acne at 20?”, “does acne make me ugly?”, “can I be dating with acne”? This was the beginning of feeling acne anxiety and having acne depression. I used to cry everyday, when I woke, when I went to bed and sometimes during the day. I was miserable. At the time, I didn’t know about the psychological effects of acne and I wish someone had told what I’m going to tell you. I am very happy that acne is talked about a lot more nowadays, especially on social media, and that acne is being normalised. Being acne positive and acne neutral is very important considering how normal and common acne is. I hope this video will help you if you are struggling with acne.
