At the Heart of CSC: Autism and Water Safety

Описание: Three Palm Beach County children drowned within a five-month span from September 2022 to January 2023. All three children had wandered out of their homes. All three children drowned in open bodies of water. All three children were autistic.

The deaths prompted Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County to take a closer look at drownings involving children with autism in the county. That research has led to CSC funding two swim pilot programs as well as Autism Safety Boxes distributed by Safe Kids Palm Beach County to FAU CARD (Center for Autism Related Disabilities). CSC is scheduled to hold the Palm Beach County Autism and Water Safety Symposium in January to examine how to create countywide programming and messaging.
