Описание: The Vatican Gardens date back to the Middle Ages and, with almost 20 hectares, cover almost the entire Vatican Hill, while the residential area extends over the other half of the country.

The majority of the gardens are artificial and have been tended by human hands since time immemorial. In addition to the beautiful hedges, beds, and meadows, we also find all kinds of places of worship, lagoons, and caves.

The gardens date back to the end of the 13th century, when Pope Nicholas III moved the palace from the Lateran to the Vatican Hill and, in addition to a vegetable garden, also had a garden with medicinal plants created.

Today, you can visit the gardens either on foot with a Vatican guide or, as we tested, on an open-top bus tour.

The bus tour lasts about 45 minutes. An audio guide is provided. Tickets can be easily booked via the Vatican's official website:

The ticket price (€40 for adults and €28 for those under 25) includes access to the collections and the Sistine Chapel.
