The modern version of the song is written by Dominic Behan. In Behans book “Ireland Sings”, he has three verses. The first and third he obtained from Peter O’Toole whilst he wrote the middle verse himself. Many famous artists such as The Dubliners, Van Morrison and as recently as Dermot Kennedy have performed this famous folk song. Hope you guys enjoy my version🎶
